Let's just get these things straight, shall we? Sarah Palin is not an intellectual. She's no genius at anything, be it history, culture, or politics. She doesn't have a Harvard degree, and, let's face it: Palin's got that weird Western accent. What a turn-off, some would say.
As much as I love her, she's just not cut out to become the person that Barack Obama is, an intellectual, a rare breed of man who can dazzle all but the dimmest of people. Our President-elect has got so many factoids in that ginormous brain of his that one must wonder how it doesn't burst? I mean really, how does he get around without falling over? There's just so much to brag about! Did you know that Obama can recite the Romanian alphabet . . . backwards?! Have you seen that guy give a speech on public policy? Man, so many details! And so precise, there's not a single grammatical error to be heard. Not since Jimmy Carter did the United States have such a smartie in the White House.
But you know what? I don't care, and neither should you. The highest office in the land doesn't dictate that you can name every Supreme Court case in history, or even a few. It doesn't require that you speak, act, and talk like your everyday politician, because LEADERS such as Sarah Palin have done just fine without it. Owing to all the rallies and interviews I've see her in (except for the disastrous Katie Couric one) Sarah has shown that she is capable and highly well-versed on the issues, as any other politician. Note how quickly she responds, and how logical her answers are liable to be. She does not resort to petty tactics to achieve results; rather, she refuses to get bitter and fights on, smiling all the while and projecting an almost constant image of leadership even after the most vicious remarks have come her way. This is a woman who knows what she's talking about (you can see it in her determination), a woman with excellent judgment and common sense not held back by naiveness. She is compassionate, inspiring, tough, self-deprecating, and supremely confident, and those qualities are what I search for in a potential President. Certainly intelligence and experience are important factors as well, but Sarah Palin has already assured me that she can handle just about anything the world throws at her, because she has the smarts and the steadily growing experience. How else could you explain the AK governor's envious approval ratings, some of which have soared to 92% in the past? How else would you sum up her tremendous record? How else could she have held her own against the Senate veteran Joe Biden at the VP Debates? To put it simply, you betcha she must be doing something right up there, and that something belongs in the White House one day.
And to all you "perfect" people out there, I'm sorry to say that even your precious Messiah has his moments. He's made some questionable comments too along with everybody else. Remember the infamous, "I've campaigned in 57 states" line? An instant classic. Or how about, "My middle name will help me in foreign affairs because it will make other countries think I have a bushy mustache." He believes that the homogenous country of China is "full of black people" and that he once received a treasure map from Long John Silvers (you know, the seafood restaurant). The list goes on and on. And yet do you see me calling him a jackass? No, because he's not. He's an "intellectual," remember? So if Obama is considered smart, then so too should Palin.
It is downright SHAMEFUL how the liberal media has reported on every one of of her gaffes but not Obama's. They constantly deride the most watched news station in America (Fox News) for supposedly being "biased" and "hate-spewing" (even though numerous non-partisan studies have confirmed otherwise) and yet there they go salivating over Obama while criticising Palin. I could be wrong about this, but it seems to me that whenever Obama is about ready to say something dumb, arrogant, reckless, or all of the above, liberal idealists unconsciously tune out as a result of some sort of brain defect. Again, I could be wrong.
All this is not to say I'm picking on "intellectuals" (obviously it's pretty cool if you know so much), but the point that I'm trying to make is that having a high IQ does not guarantee you a successful Presidency. Rather than your RUN-OF-THE-MILL POLITICIAN who is out for himself, America needs insightful LEADERS to guide us into peace and prosperity. The primary function of our President is to enforce national law for the good of the country. Since when does getting a law degree help?
Sarah Palin has proven herself to be that leader. Ask any Alaskan, whether Democrat or Republican, and the vast majority of them will tell you some good things. Maybe she wasn't ready this year to help lead the country with John McCain, but you can bet your bottom dollar she'll at least win the Republican nomination in 2012. Until then, let's hope our soon-to-be Prez luck.
He's gonna need it.
